A graduate of the Johannesburg High School for Art, Ballet and Music, Tracy is an Associate member of the I.D.T.A. (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance – Cecchetti Branch) and the A.I.D.T. (Association of International Dance Teachers – Modern Dance Branch). Tracy performed professionally in Musical Theatre before injury encouraged her to open her own Dance school where she taught for 10 years before discovering Pilates.

She then embarked on Stott Pilates® Training and Certification in 1999 (Toronto, Canada), and is one of the original pioneers of Pilates in South Africa. After completing full certification Tracy went on to become a Merrithew Lead Instructor Trainer specialising in Stott Pilates. She is the owner of “Tracy Dawber Pilates” a Merrithew Host Training Centre in Durban, and Satellite Training Centre in Johannesburg South Africa.
